Nadcap Accreditation puts Matrix in an Elite Class of Composite Manufacturers!

March 29, 2018 – Matrix Composites, Inc. reported that it has been approved for the esteemed Nadcap accreditation and will appear on the Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) for Composites as a Nadcap accredited company.

Nadcap is a global cooperative accreditation program for aerospace engineering, defense, and related industries. It is an industry-managed approach to conformity assessment that brings together technical experts from both industry and government to establish requirements for accreditation, accredit suppliers and define operational program requirements.

To achieve this accreditation, Matrix undertook an intensive on-site inspection and investigation by the Performance Review Institute (PRI). The audit covered all aspects of the process – the machinery, consumables and methods employed, as well as the qualifications and experience of the staff involved in the process.

“This stringent accreditation enables us to further establish Matrix as a prominent aerostructures supplier that delivers quality composite products,” says Ryan Wood, Engineering Manager. “The tighter controls that Nadcap requires also has the potential to open up many new opportunities for us throughout the industry.”

In addition to the investment to become Nadcap accredited, Matrix Composites says it has made several recent capital investments to further enhance its capabilities and facility capacity. These investments include an additional 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space, level II non-destructive inspection (NDI), five new platen presses, two new coordinate measuring machines (CMM), a high-speed 5-axis horizontal mill for machining composite components and addition of a 6’ x 12’ autoclave; all of which will accommodate current and future production growth.

Matrix Composites offers a variety of manufacturing processes including close tolerance and high-production volume resin transfer molding (RTM), Hot Isostatic Resin Pressure Molding (HiRPM®), Vacuum Assisted RTM (VARTM), autoclave cure and compression molding capabilities. Matrix has been military and aerospace trusted since 1993 for their full service capabilities which include: design, development, tooling, fabrication, testing and integration.

“Off the Charts Successful”!

On February 7th, 2018 Matrix hosted a visit from Brevard County Commissioner Curt Smith, members of the EDC of Florida’s Space Coast and their Government Relations Council.

The visit and plant tour was held in effort to raise awareness and improve the image of manufacturing companies located in Commissioner Smith’s district.

“I was quite honored to receive an invite to tour another small business success story in Brevard County”, said Commissioner Smith.  The Commissioner was particularly impressed with the flawless surfaces using our proprietary resin transfer molding process called HiRPM®.

Commissioner Smith continued, “I physically saw and held parts built for companies in Commercial Space and the US Government and they were lighter and stronger than materials like aluminum and stainless steel. But flawless is the key word!  And the complexity of some of the designs was beyond description. Founded in the early 90’s by FIT grad David Nesbitt, Matrix is off the charts successful.  I am proud to point to them as a real local success story, and they continue to grow with plans already in place for expansion right here in Brevard!”

Matrix Composites offers close tolerance resin transfer molding (RTM), Hot Isostatic Resin Pressure Molding (HiRPM) autoclave cure and compression molding capabilities. The Company has been military and aerospace trusted since 1993 for their full service capabilities which include: design, development, tooling, fabrication, testing and integration.

Matrix Expands Plant to Support Increasing Demand

October 26, 2017 – Matrix Composites, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance composite components and assemblies, announced the expansion, which will serve the growing need in the aerospace industry.

Work began this year on expansion to the Rockledge, Florida facility which will significantly alter production capabilities for the company. The capacity expansion is as a result of the recent award of several long term, aero-engine composite fabrication programs.

Specifically, Matrix Composites acquired an additional 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space, added level II non-destructive inspection (NDI), procured five new platen presses and upgraded all of their data acquisition and processing control systems.

In addition, Matrix increased their clean room footprint to support three shifts per day of production. Other improvements include laser projection capability, a new coordinate measuring machine (CMM), addition of a 6’ x 12’ autoclave and planned addition of two 5-axis machining centers.

According to Lucintel’s market research analysts, the composites market in the global aerospace industry is expected to reach an estimated value of $5.9 billion by 2033 with total consumption of composite materials anticipated to grow to 133.8 million pounds. The major drivers are increasing demand for lightweight materials, high order backlog of aircraft deliveries, high penetration of composite materials in aircraft structures and increasing production of various aircrafts.

Matrix Composites offers expert close tolerance resin transfer molding (RTM), Hot Isostatic Resin Pressure Molding (HiRPM) autoclave cure and compression molding capabilities. The Company has been military and aerospace trusted for 24 years for their full service capabilities which include: design, development, tooling, fabrication, testing and integration.
